“The Mountain” is Isaiah Bogdanov’s mystical meditation on reflection, duality, and the invisible threads that bind opposites. Painted directly onto a skateboard deck using acrylics, the piece features a hooded figure ascending a jagged mountain path beneath a night sky scattered with stars. The climber looks upward—not just at the summit, but beyond it, into the vastness of the unknown.
Below the mountain, embedded in the stone, is a creature—part elemental, part alien—its body fused with the rock itself. It cradles a glowing gem, its single eye locked onto the radiant core. The gesture mirrors the human above. One reaches for the stars, the other contemplates the stone. Both are staring into something sacred. Both are seeking light from opposite ends of the cosmos.
The composition plays with the ancient idea of “as above, so below”—the mystical belief that what happens in one realm echoes in another. But here, Bogdanov adds a modern twist: two beings who will never meet, yet who are unknowingly connected through posture, focus, and longing.
